Jamie Silva to attend Barrington's NFL Combine Night; BPW unveils new website

Barrington Pop Warner has been busy this off-season.

The local football and cheerleading organization recently unveiled its new website, and early next month Barrington Pop Warner will host former Indianapolis Colts safety Jamie Silva as part of its "NFL Combine Night."

BPW's new website is an ungrade over its predecessor.

The new site offers the league a platform to share upcoming events and past successes. On one page, there's a photograph of the Barrington Unlimited football team which won the state championship. And on another there's detailed information about the upcoming NFL Combine Night

On Friday, April 7, Barrington Pop Warner will get a visit from NFL Ambassador Jamie Silva "for an exclusive NFL Combine Night." The event is open to all boys and girls, and will be held at Sherwood UltraSport in Seekonk.

Jamie Silva grew up in East Providence and was a standout football player for the Townies. He later went on to star at Boston College, earning All-American honors as a free safety. He signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2008. During the 2009 season, Silva played a key role for the Colts special teams, recording 32 tackles and deflecting two passes. Silva and Colts reached the Super Bowl that year, falling to the New Orleans Saints. Silva injured his knee the following preseason. "The doctors never cleared Silva to play again," stated Silva's wikipedia page.

Barrington Pop Warner officials were very excited to finalize an agreement that will bring Silva to the April 7 NFL Combine Night.

Local officials said any children who are interested in meeting Jamie Silva and participating in the fun NFL Combine Night should register on the league's new website.

Barrington Pop Warner President Seth Fisher said he was pleased the league has been able to offer a new, convenient website.

"The site will be a single access point for players, coaches, volunteers, and parents to get all the information they need on upcoming events, registration, sponsors, and schedules," said Mr. Fisher.

"This new site is easy to use and will allow Barrington Pop Warner to promote the value of our program and provide better tools to manage our participants interactions. We are thrilled that Dick's Sporting Goods and Blue Sombrero made this investment and hope our community enjoys the experience."
