Four Barrington baseball players selected for All-Star game

Eagles play key roles in All-Star game

Posted

The 2017 RIBCA All Star games for Division 2 and 3 were held at McCarthy Field in West Warwick recently, and the Barrington varsity baseball team was well represented.

The Eagles imprint was all over the field as head coach Vin Scandura was in the dugout for the underclassmen, and 3 Eagles juniors and 1 senior made major contributions for their respective teams.

Cabot Maher started in left and smacked an RBI double to open the scoring for the D2 underclassmen. Maher also competed well in the home run derby too.

Andrew Conaty got the nod as starting pitcher for the D2 South All Stars and shut down the North with an efficient 1-2-3 inning.

Matt Zeleznik walked, stole third and scored to add to the lead and also pitched a scoreless fifth inning.

Owen Roberts started at first base for the D2 Senior All Stars, singled in his first at bat, and came in to close the seventh and got the save to preserve the 5-4 win for the seniors.
