Frances J. Stabila, 78, Warren

Frances J. (Fox) Stabila, 78, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at home. She was the wife of Salvador “Sal” Stabila.

Mrs. Stabila was born in Newport, a daughter of the late Napoleon and Matilda (Contois) LaChance.

She worked for the Barrington Senior Center as a member of the kitchen staff before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Jean Baptiste Church and a Warren resident for more than 75 years, coming from Newport.

She was the mother of Salvador P. Stabila of West Cliffe, Colo., Paul F. Stabila of Coventry, James M. Stabila of Fall River and Cynthia A. Jones of Warren; grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of seven.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, in St. Jean Baptiste Church, 328 Main St., Warren. Burial follows in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
