Francis Nathaniel Holmes Bishop died with his family by his side on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at the age of 69 after a decades long battle with melanoma.

Nat was born on April 12, 1949 in New York City and was the son of Mary Jane and Francis Bishop. Growing up in Bedford, NY, he graduated from Eaglebrook School in Deerfleld, Mass., Berkshire School in Sheffield, Mass. and Northeastern University.

Nat's career spanned almost 40 years with Imtra Corporation, New Bedford, Mass., an importer of high quality marine products. He began as a salesman in 1974 and rose to president and CEO from 1997 to 2013. Nat's care for his employees, customers and vendors set a tremendous example for all on how to live and lead. Nat felt very fortunate to work in an industry doing what he loved.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Becky, who fought the courageous battle by his side; a son, Nathaniel Holmes Bishop and his wife Gabrielle; a daughter, Jennie Bishop Weinstein and her husband Nate. He was the consummate "Pop" to Alexander, JoJo, Elle and Liv. Nat will also be missed by his four doting sisters Jane Putnam, Cindy Dickey, Priscilla Henry, and Linda Moody and their respective husbands; Sandy, Rob, Reg and Michael, as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. Nat was the essence of joy to his family, friends, acquaintances and even those who were just lucky enough to meet him. His quick wit and wide smile endeared him to all. Nat especially enjoyed competing with family (and in-laws) on both the tennis court and golf links. His humor (trash talk) always made every match a most memorable and enjoyable event. We will lovingly remember Nat cruising on the Warren River in the Sneak Box with Becky and his dog Zoe by his side. The family requests that all who wish to celebrate Nat's life join family and friends at the Rhode Island Country Club, on Nov. 17, at 11 a.m.

The family would like to thank the staff at Home Health and Hospice Care of Nursing Placement in Pawtucket, for their exceptional care and support.

Donations may be made in Nat's memory online at www.glvlng.massgeneral.org in support of melanoma research. Checks may be sent to: MGH Development office, Attn: Megan Daniels 125 Nashua Street Suite 540 Boston, MA 02114
