Francisco M. Silva, 84, Little Compton

Francisco M. Silva, 84, of East Main Road, Little Compton, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Frances E. (LeBlanc) Silva. They were married for 64 years.

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Perreira) Silva. He was an engineer for Raytheon for 34 years.

Mr. Silva was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Tiverton and a volunteer for the Little Compton Fire Department.

Besides his wife, he leaves five daughters, Cindy Silva of Bristol, Deborah Iamarone and Denise Castro, both of Fall River, Elaine Silva of Bristol, and Karen Prezalar of Fall River. He was the brother of Alice Santos of Tiverton and the late Manuel, Lewis, John, Joseph, and Antone Silva, Irene Gergora and Sylvania; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral was held Saturday, Dec. 10, at 8:30 a.m. from the Fern Acres Funeral Home, 72 Willow Avenue, Little Compton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, on The Commons. Burial was in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery. Visiting hours were Friday, 4 to 7 p.m.

When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
