Francisco Pires, 92, Tiverton

Francisco (Frank) Pires, 92, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at the Warren Center Nursing Home.  He was the husband of Senhorinha (Sally) Pires.

Born in Westport, he was the son of the late Isidor and Mary (Fermino) Pires.  He lived in Fall River, New Bedford, Connecticut and for the last 29 years in Tiverton.  He was retired from Beetle Plastics. He had served in the US Army as a private.

He  leaves a brother, Louis Pires from Westport, and was the brother of the late Joseph and Raymond Pires, Deolinda Faris and Mary Ramos.  He also leaves seven godchildren.

His funeral will be held Saturday with a 9 a.m. Mass at Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton.  Burial will be in  Pine Grove Cemetery,New Bedford.  Please omit flowers.  Arrangements are with the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Road, Tiverton.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
