Frank Joseph Sylvia, 95, of Pennsylvania Avenue, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late Mary Navares (Andrade) Sylvia.

Born in Warren, he was the son of the late Joseph and Emma (Freitas) Sylvia. He is survived by his children, Allen Sylvia and his wife Patricia and Maryann Sykes and her husband Tim; grandchildren Alicia Welch, Kyle Sylvia and Allen Raimer; and great-grandchildren Declan Welch and Callum Welch. He was the father of the late Gary Sylvia and brother of the late John Sylvia, Irene Oliveira and Catherine Amaral.

Mr. Sylvia was educated in Nantucket, MA and employed by Crowne Fastener, RI Buckle Company and Avnet Trophies before retiring. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Signalman 1st Class, and was a former member of the American Legion Post #104 of Warren.

Calling hours are from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 7 at the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High St., Bristol with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., Warren. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery.
