Fred A. Theriault, 77, of Portsmouth

Fred A. Theriault, 77, of Portsmouth, R.I., passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Linda M. (Dennis) Theriault.

Fred was born in Worcester, Mass., son of the late Fernand J. and Marion E. (Godbout) Theriault. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a 1965 graduate of Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and began his career at the former Peter Bent Brigham Hospital.

He was the Director of Pharmacy at the Meriden Medical Center, Meriden, Conn., from 1975 to 1986 and later became the Director of Pharmacy from 1986 to 1996 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury, Conn.

Fred served on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Society of Hospital Pharmacists from 1980 to 1984 and served as the organization’s Legislative Chairman from 1976 to 1980. He was also Vice President of Pharmcon Associates, a provider of pharmacy long-term care services and President of Pharmcon Educational Associates, a provider of educational programs for nurses located in Connecticut.

Fred served as a pharmacist for 48 years until his 2013 retirement from Omnicare.

Survivors along with his wife include his two daughters, Tracy A. Ashton and her husband Douglas of Daniel Island, S.C., and Suzanne Speers and her husband Rob of Rocky Hill, Conn., along with four grandchildren: John, Carly, Brian and Claire.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at St. Barnabas Church, Portsmouth at 10 a.m.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Fred may be made to your favorite charity.
