Thanking his opponent, Rep. Susan Donovan, "a friend, high school classmate, and parishoner at the same church," Doug Gablinske conceded defeat Tuesday evening after falling some 400 votes shy of his goal. Winning only two polling districts by a small margin, Mr. Gablinske noted that absentee and mail-in ballots were unlikely to change the outcome.
"I salute her efforts in giving her time and effort to public service," he said. "She ran a great campaign."
"I’m so honored that the voters re-elected me to be their representative," said Ms. Donovan. "Throughout this campaign I’ve connected with so many people in our community who share our values. I’m overwhelmed by the support and look forward to getting back to work."
