Mr. Gaetano J. Caizzi, 76, of Greylock Road, Bristol, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Theresa Ann (Cardoza) Caizzi, his wife of 42 years, who preceded him in death in 2005.

Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Ralph and Josephine (Rebello) Caizzi. Guy worked in the maintenance department of the Naval Underwater Sound Laboratory in Newport for several years, retiring in 1997. He previously worked for Brito Construction, was the former operator of the former Lindy’s Waste Paper Company on Gooding Avenue, Bristol, for a number of years and worked for 18 years in the maintenance department of the RI Turnpike and Bridge Authority. Guy served in the RI National Guard during peacetime.

He enjoyed playing in softball leagues in Bristol and for the Rego’s Chiefs Touch Football team, formerly in Bristol. He was an avid golfer. He was also a member of the Suwannee River Fishing Club in Bristol. His favorite thing in the world to do was spending time at New Found Lake in New Hampshire.

He is survived by a son, Gaetano J. Caizzi (Carmen); a grandson, Bret Caizzi; and a sister, Patricia Brinza (Joseph), all of Bristol.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, April 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or online at www.stjude.org.
