EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School boys' lacrosse team opened up the home portion of their 2017 Division III season late last week by hosting Cranston East, the visiting Thunderbolts prevailing by a 7-0 count.

The Townies were without the services of starting keeper Eric Bianco, who also missed E.P.'s season opening loss to Mount St. Charles a few days prior.

With Bianco back in net and midfielder Zach Pangborn back his usual position, East Providence next recorded its first win of the year, a 6-5 overtime victory against North Smithfield. Nathan Vincent netted the game-winning tally in the extra session.

East Providence Post and eastbayri.com staff photographer Rich Dionne chronicled the Townies against Cranston East in the accompanying gallery.
