EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School girls' tennis team edged visiting Tiverton, 4-3, in a key mid-season Division III-A matchup between the sides near the top of the league standings played Friday, Sept. 29.

East Providence improved to 8-1 in the III-A standings, good for a share of second place with Cranston East and Rogers behind unbeaten Middletown (9-0). Tiverton slipped to 7-2 and in fifth place.

E.P.'s No. 2 doubles team of Rose Lawrence and Madison Turner earned the decisive point in the match. The Townies earlier received singles victories from Mary McBride, Jessica Costello and Meg Amore.
