Event featuring ceramics works of student returns after COVID break
EAST PROVIDENCE — Students in the East Providence High School Art Department taking instruction in ceramics from teacher Tricia Chapman held their second annual “Empty Bowls” fundraiser on Tuesday night, May 24, in the new student commons.
The event, benefitting the Good Neighbors food pantry in Riverside, was a sell-out. Attendees purchased one of the bowls made by students for many uses.
The night also included a raffle and plant sale as well as food prepared by students in the EPHS Career and Tech Center Culinary program. Some 30 students volunteered to help out during the evening.
Chapman actually began the “Empty Bowls” endeavor during the 2019-20 term, holding the event in December 2019. The event was not held during the 2020-21 term due to the restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
