On Thursday, April 18, Gallery Night Providence will offer five free guided tours of Providence art spaces.

Four tours (5:00, 5:30, 5:45, and 6:00 p.m.) depart from the Graduate Hotel on Dorrance Street. The 6:30 p.m. tour will depart from the WaterFire Arts Center on Valley Street. The 5 p.m. tour is the first walking tour of the season, with all other tours conducted via mini coach or trolley.

Gallery Night partner galleries also welcome individual visitors that evening free of charge.

Several galleries, including City Hall Galleries, AS220 Main and Aborn Galleries, Galerie le Domaine (featuring work by Lois Harada), and Rhode Island College’s Bannister Gallery have exhibits focused on print making, coinciding with the SGC International annual conference hosted in Providence earlier this month. The conference brought together more than 1,000 printmakers and arts professionals.

Gallery Night Guide Sam Nehila, a founder of PVD Printmakers, will lead the 5:30 p.m., tour which includes stops at Bannister (where he curated the show), and City Hall Galleries. That tour will also visit Sprout Co-Working with an exhibit created for Earth Day by the artist, Liliana Fijman. Her work involved and collaborated with the children of the Community Libraries of Providence.

The RI State Archives exhibit, on the 5:45 tour also presents youth work -- in its first ever exhibit of student created artwork inspired by the historic documents preserved at the Archives. Students from Ponaganset High School, South Kingstown High School, and Beacon Charter High School for the Arts chose to tell these Rhode Island stories through paintings, mixed media, pottery, and other artistic forms.

At Kreatelier, visitors will be treated to a presentation by designer and RISD grad Sara Ladds., who will talk about her “love of color. It's the number one driving force in how I design,” says Ladd.

The full schedule for April 18, with details on how to participate in tours or to visit on one’s own can be found on Gallery Night Providence's website.
