EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School baseball team won two of three Division I outings during the last week, climbing back above the .500 mark on the I-A side of the standings at 6-5 in league games.

Host Cranston West edged the Townies, 2-1, at the start of the week. E.P. was held to four hits in the contest, which the Falcons won in the bottom of the seventh inning on a Townie miscue.

East Providence remained on the road in its next contest, winning the first of a two-game set with Moses Brown in Providence by a 3-0 count. The Townies scored twice in the top of the third then added another run in the fifth in support of winning pitcher Seth Daly, who went the distance while allowing just three Quaker hits and striking out a dozen.

In a rematch between the sides Thursday, May 2, at Pierce Field, East Providence won by a 6-4 score. The Townies led early before Moses Brown eventually answered to take a 4-2 in the top of the sixth. E.P., however, rallied for four runs in the bottom of the frame. Rob Costa went all seven for the locals on the mound. Zach Fanara paced the E.P. offense with two hits. Costa struck out a pair and allowed nine hits. The Townies committed one error in the field.
