Ronald D. Russo, a prominent designer and inventor of medical devices, recently contributed more than $6,000 to the Barrington Land Conservation Trust to support a variety of initiatives relating to the preservation of open space, wildlife conservation and student leadership. 

Russo maintains a home in Barrington and his daughter, Lorrie, is a graduate of Barrington High School.

“I’m pleased to provide funding to help meet the current needs of the Barrington Land Conservation Trust,” said Russo, a long-time supporter of the Barrington Land Conservation Trust.

Russo’s contribution enabled the Barrington Land Conservation Trust to acquire new trail motion cameras for the Terrapin Conservation Project and cover the cost of the project’s summer interns. The donation also provides funds for Barrington High School scholarships offered through the Barrington Land Conservation Trust.

Additional needs met by Russo’s donation include resources to remove debris from recently acquired open space so that public trails can be built, and funds to promote the continued growth of the Land Trust’s Student Stewardship Team.

“It means so much when people who have supported us over the years reach out and ask, what else can I do to help?” says Cindy Elder, Barrington Land Conservation Trust Executive Director. “Mr. Russo took an interest in our work and stepped up in a big way to help us be more effective in meeting our mission. We are grateful.”
