Gladys S. Vermette, 97, Bristol

Gladys S. (Weaver) Vermette, 97, of Bristol, passed away on May 18 at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol. She was the loving wife of Euclid J. Vermeer, of Bristol.

Gladys was born in Nova Scotia in 1920. She was the daughter of Melissa (Bezanson) and Frederick Weaver. She graduated from Colt Memorial High School in 1939. Gladys lived in Bristol for 92 years.

She is survived by daughters Brenda Serpa and Linda Treacy (Richard), of North Dighton, Mass. She was also the sister of the late Marjorie Burns, Evelyn Casteen and Elsi Detlef, all of Bristol; and late brothers Lawrence and Ernest Weaver. Gladys leaves two nieces, five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and many grand nieces and nephews.

Gladys was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation. Funeral services will be private. A memorial of her death will be celebrated at a later date.
