Gloria B. Marshall, 92, of Barrington

Gloria B. Marshall, 92, of Barrington, died Monday May 29, 2017. She was the wife of the late John E. Marshall, Jr. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Cesarina C. Bernardine.

Gloria graduated from Pawtucket East in 1942 and The Tabbutt-Hubbard School in 1948.

She worked at Collyer Insulated Wire Company in Lincoln for 42 years as inventory control manager of building wire.

Gloria was active at TAPIN, Atria Bay Spring Village, a member of Rhode Island Country Club, the Barrington Garden Club and a communicant of St. Luke’s Church.

She is survived by her two nieces, Ruth Madison and Elizabeth Bernardine of California, a stepson John E. Marshall III (Diana) of Little Compton, a stepdaughter, Diane M. Shott (Roger) of Masonic Home, Ky., four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Albert W. Bernardine and best friend to Carole Kelly.

Gloria’s family wishes to express their thanks to the staff and residents of Atria Bay Spring Village and to the staff of Miriam Hospital, Beacon Hospice and Home Instead for their care and friendship.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, June 5, in St. Luke’s Church with burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to TAPIN, 281 County Road, Barrington, RI 02806, would be greatly appreciated. Please visit http://smithmason.com for online condolences.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
