Helen Vose Danforth (nee Mott), 98, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at Cedar Lake Assisted Living Home, Lake Zurich, Ill., where she had resided for the past 1 and a half years. Prior to that she lived with her daughter, Sally, and son-in-law Gregg Heineman, in Hawthorn Woods, Ill. She was the wife of the late Guy Sage Danforth, and together they lived for over 50 years in Barrington.

Born June 23, 1920 in Watertown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Hubert L. and Helen (Greenman) Mott.

Helen was the long-time bookkeeper at the Barrington Yacht Club, retiring in 1985, and was a life member there. She also served on the Club’s Social Committee for several years and was a past recipient of the Dorothy Healey Award. She was a member of the Bristol Chapter DAR, where she served on the board and was a past State Registrar. She was a communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church and served on the Altar Guild, was a former member of the Vestry, and a member of the Red Brickers, She was also a former member of the Barrington Women’s Club.

In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, she is survived by three sons: Guy (Constance) of Sarasota, Fla.; Bradley of Honolulu, Hawaii; and Jeffrey (Julie) of Woodstock Valley, Conn.; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings Fred (Gene) Mott of Dover, Del.; the late Sally (Pat) of Red Hook, NY; Martha (the late Don) Altobell of Maple Shade, NY; and Mary Scull of San Antonio, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Watertown, NY.  Memorials in Helen’s name can be made to Bayside YMCA – Aquatics, 70 West Street, Barrington.
