Hope Street spring block party returns

Posted

The Hope Street Merchants Association (HSMA) is thrilled to announce its biggest annual event, the Hope Street Spring Block Party, will return this spring! Taking place for the first time since 2019, the Block Party will expand for several blocks on Hope Street on Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is free, family friendly, and open to all.

Hope Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from Rochambeau Avenue to Fifth Street, creating space for more than a quarter-mile of fun, drawing visitors from all over Rhode Island and beyond to one of Providence’s most unique and vibrant neighborhoods. The Spring Block Party’s beer and cocktail garden will feature selections from Narragansett Beer, Moniker Brewery, Sprawl Hard Seltzer, Ketel One Botanicals, Captain Morgan, and more.

Debuting in 2012, the block party has grown bigger and better each year, drawing approximately 5,000 visitors in 2019. In 2023, the HSMA has tapped local community event organizers, Ampersand Creative Co, to plan the event and curate vendors and entertainment, and beloved music venue, Askew, to curate a robust lineup of varied and exciting musical acts for the Spring Block Party stage. The street will be lined with pop-up vendors offering a wide variety of artisan, vintage, and hand-crafted goods, along with food trucks, live music, roving entertainment, and more.

"We're excited to finally bring back our annual Spring Block party! This event is an excellent opportunity for us to come together and celebrate our diverse community,” says HSMA President, Estela Hernandez. “We're looking forward to seeing everyone there and having a great time with our friends, family, and neighbors. This block party is going to be one to remember.”

WHEN: Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

WHERE: Hope Street, Providence - From Rochambeau to 5th St
