The Huskies dominated Chariho to kick off Homecoming weekend with a 41-7 win.

Mt. Hope took advantage of Chargers’ miscues throughout the game, jumping out to an early lead after recovering a fumble on Chariho’s first possession, and intercepting a pass on the next. Both turnovers were recovered at the Chargers’ 32 yard-line, setting up Mt. Hope with a short field quarterback Vincent Berretto turned into touchdowns.

Once again, Berretto led the Huskies attack, connecting for 124 yards on 13-29 for two touchdowns and no interceptions. Berretto added 40 yards on the ground, plus a rushing score.

The contest was out of reach for the Chargers by halftime as the Mt. Hope defense held Chariho in check all game. The Chargers were able to put together just one significant drive, which ended with a Pat Morkis quarterback sneak for a score.

With a wind-swept rain falling throughout the second half, Mt. Hope continued to dominate, taking advantage of the Chargers’ sloppy play. Chariho turned the ball over five times — two Morkis interceptions and three fumble recoveries — turning the takeaways into more points in the second half.
