I Am Rhode Island

Roberta Humble, former English professor at Community College of Rhode, will be guest speaker at an October program sponsored by the Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse. Her lively presentation, entitled “I Am Rhode Island,” will entertain attendees with little known facts and quirks about the Ocean State. Proud of her native state, she loves to show off Rhode Island to local residents as well as those from “the other 49.” Ms. Humble is the author of a number of books, songs and games about Little Rhody. This fascinating program will be held on Wednesday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Brendan School Hall, 55 Turner Avenue, Riverside. The public is invited to attend this free, fun and fact-filled presentation. Refreshments will be served.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
