On Saturday, Oct. 22, The Steel Yard will light up the skies over Sims Avenue in Providence as they melt more than 2,000 pounds of luminous iron in a custom-built tilt furnace. A trained pour crew will activate larger than life sculptures with fire and molten metal. It’s a one-of-a-kind industrial art event., and admission is free.
In tandem, The Steel Yard has partnered with its neighbors on Sims Avenue to produce the inaugural Sims Avenue Festival. Everyone on Sims will be out in force, selling beer and cocktails, food, flowers, hot, sauce, ice cream, and more! More than twenty artists will take over the center of the street, while demonstrations of blacksmithing, glass blowing and more will mesmerize.
The festivals take place from 4 to 9 p.m.
