Isaltina (Matos) Ferreira, 81 of Bristol, died Saturday,  Nov. 21, 2015 at R.I. Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Miguel Ferreira.

Mrs. Ferreira was born in Faial, Azores, Portugal. She was the daughter of the late Sergio and Angelica (Silveira) Matos.

She was an assembler for the Davol Company for many years before she retired. Mrs. Ferreira was a Bristol resident for over 50 years coming from Portugal. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church.

Mrs. Ferreira is survived by her son Michael Ferreira of Bristol, her daughters Teresa Ferreira of Bristol, Ligia Garcia of San Jose California, and Susan Cordeiro of Warren, a brother Antonio Matos of Bristol, a sister Liduina Soares of Bristol.

She was the grandmother of Bobby Medeiros, Timothy Medeiros, Sandra Field, Zoe Ferreira. Also the great grandmother of Morgan Field, Jonathan Cordeiro, Isaac Cordeiro, Tristyn Medeiros.

Survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Horacio Ferreira.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Nov 25, 2015 at 9 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St. Bristol, burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
