James Celone, age 88, of Bristol, died on Monday, Oct. 30, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Leonora (Medeiros) Celone for 65 years.
Born in Bristol, he was the youngest child of Paul and Mary (Lanzire) Celone. He was a 1947 graduate of Colt Memorial High School and a 1951 graduate of Bryant College, now Bryant University.
Mr. Celone was employed by Wardwell Lumber Company for 40 years, before retiring as vice president in 1991. He was a real estate developer and involved in many projects in town.
A member of Wanumetonomy Golf Course for over 50 years and the Woodchucker’s Golf League, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards with his many friends. He was also a member of the Leonardo DaVinci Lodge.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Peter; his wife, Christine; his daughter Lee Ann Nunes and her husband Alan; and grandchildren Michael, Nicholas (Abbie), and Sarah Celone, and Andrew (Samantha) and Alex Nunes, and great-grandchild Marshall Nunes. He was the brother of the late Marie Sullivan, Josephine Gantz, and brothers Louis, Sam, and Ralph.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and humility.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Sansone Funeral Home; 192 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will be private.
