Jane A. Drew, 82, Riverside

Jane A. (Cross) Drew, 82, of Riverside, died on October 20, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Emma (Hadfield) Cross of Slatersville, where she resided until her marriage to her dedicated husband Richard Drew of 56 years.

She leaves a daughter Jayne Anderson and her husband George of Barrington and two grandchildren Andrew and Ashley Anderson. She also leaves her sister Marjorie Brown of Barton, Vt., three nieces, one nephew and cousins.

Jane worked for several years at the Woonsocket and Providence office of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She graduated from St. Xavier Academy in 1952 and then Hill College.

A memorial service will be held at Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave., Riverside, on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. with calling hours one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. If you would like to make donations in Jane’s name to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904, that would be greatly appreciated. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
