Joan M. Sampson, 92, Warren

Joan M. (Dubois) Sampson, 92, of Warren, died Saturday, January 12, 2019 at her daughter’s home.

She was the wife of the late Louis Sampson.

Joan was born in Warren, a daughter of the late Charles and Anne (Walsh) Dubois.

Mrs. Sampson was a homemaker.

She was a Warren resident all of her life, living for many years at the Sampson compound on Mason Street. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Church.

Joan was a member of Taking off Pounds Sensibly (T.O.P.S.), and she also enjoyed going to yard sales.

Mrs. Sampson’s family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses Home and Hospice, for their support and compassion they showed to her during her illness.

Mrs. Sampson was the mother of Stephen Sampson (Sharon) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Kenneth Sampson (Lori) of Warren, and Mary Ellen Kee (Byron) of Warren. She is also survived by her caretaker, Corinne Guimond of Warren. Mrs. Sampson was the grandmother of 12, and the great-grandmother of 20. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Carreira.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, January 15 at 8:30am from the Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main Street, Warren.

Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm.
