John A. Costa, 76, of Bristol

John A. Costa, 76, of Hope Street passed away on March 29, 2019, at Rhode Island Hospital.   

Born in Fonte de Bastardo, Terceira, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao and Margarida (Ferreira) DaCosta.  He is survived by his sisters, Valentina A. Carreiro of Bristol and Mary DaSilva of Bristol.

Mr. Costa was educated in Portugal and employed by American Tourister before retiring. He was the former president of the Dom Luiz Felipe Society as well as the Warren Soccer Club. He was a member of the Bristol Sports Club and chosen Man of the Year in 1999. He also cooked at the Club for 16 years.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 5, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are with the George C. Lima Funeral Home.
