The parking lot at Little Compton’s South Shore Beach, and the beach itself, took a prolonged pounding courtesy of Hurricane Jose and then Tropical Storm Maria, storms that, though well out at sea, produced many days of high surf and (in Jose's case) gales here.
The beach was repaired at considerable expense a few years ago but much of the sand has been washed away again, exposing rocks along the shoreline. The waves also cut into a good-sized stretch of the parking lot.
