Joseph DaPonte, 87, of Bristol

Mr. Joseph DaPonte, 87, passed away on Dec. 28, 2017. He was the husband of Cecelia (Nastri) DaPonte.

A lifelong resident of Bristol, he was the son of Jose and Miranda DaPonte. In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his three children, Nancy Kiley (Gary), Joseph DaPonte (Carole), and Michael DaPonte (Alison); grandchildren Peter and Daniel Kiley, Colin and Alex DaPonte, Andrew, Mary and Emelia DaPonte, and great-grandchildren Raegan, Denver, and Maija Kiley. He was the brother of Julie Ann Rego (Joseph) of Bristol.

Joe was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Bristol Council of the Knights of Columbus for over 55 years and served as Grand Knight. He was a lector and parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Joe graduated from Colt Memorial High School in 1949, and was a retiree of Citizens Bank. Joe always looked forward to spending time with his family, and was an avid crossword puzzle solver. He was a proud resident of Bristol and enjoyed cruising around town and through his beloved Colt State Park.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.

Visitation will be Saturday morning only from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
