Joseph Moretti, 93, Barrington

Joseph Moretti, age 93, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2016. He was the loving husband of Anne T. (Cuzzone) Moretti to whom he was married 53 years. Born in Cranston, a son of the late Emanuel and Lucia (Moretti) Moretti, he was a long time resident of Barrington.

An avid golfer, he was a member of the Swansea Country Club as well as the Tri City Elks #14 and the VFW Tabor-Franchi Post in Cranston.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his nieces Elaine Zayat, Lucy Smith, Roberta Turchetta and Denise Foggo. He was the brother of the late Stephen, Clino and PFC Thomas Moretti and Mary DiMeo and uncle of the late Barbara DiBiase.

His visitation was held on Saturday, Oct. 22, from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was at Holy Angels Church. Burial with Military Honors was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
