Josephine P. “Josette” Costa, 76, of Bristol

Ms. Josephine P. “Josette” (Squatrito) Costa, age 76, of Colt Avenue, Bristol, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at Silver Creek Manor, Bristol, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Providence and a lifelong resident of Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Joseph “Lefty” Squatrito and the late Pauline J. (St. George) Squatrito Alessandro. Josette was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1959, where she was a standout cheerleader and “Miss Congeniality” of her class.

She was an administrative assistant for the Raytheon Corporation in Portsmouth for over 25 years, retiring in 2004.  Josette was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and loved gardening, cooking, walking, spending time in Florida but most of all lived for her boys and grandchildren.  

She is survived by two sons, John “Jon Jon” Costa, III and his wife Jana of Johnston and Kevin J. Costa (Jessica Pederson) of Bristol; five grandchildren, Allie Elizabeth, Sophie Marie, Cote Joseph, Andersyn Elaine and Jon Logan Costa; her companion for 25 years, Anthony Grande; and two brothers, Joseph Mark Squatrito (Elaine) and Jerome Squatrito, both of Bristol. 

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at 9 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org/memorial, or to the Alzheimer’s Association Rhode Island, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI  02903, or online at www.alz.org/ri.
