Junior Pee Wees and Junior Varsity blank Bears

Both Barrington teams win their games 26-0

Barrington Pop Warner Junior Varsity travelled to New Bedford on Saturday to take on the New Bedford Bears.  After winning the toss and electing to receive, the JV opened up a drive with a deep pass from quarterback James Anderson to JC Neimeyer to the Bears' 10 yard line. After a few short gains, the Eagles scored on a reverse to Joey Medeiros with keys blocks by the offensive line, Brady Fisher, Devin Medeiros, Jake Zimmerman, Adam Gravelle, Parker Hughes, and Lucas Bianco.

Eagles 6, Bears 0.

After the ensuing kickoff, New Bedford broke a long run to the Eagles' 10 yard line. The Eagles staunch defense held New Bedford to negative yardage with strong tackling by linebackers Bryan Ivatts and James Anderson.  On fourth down, pressure by defensive linemen, Zimmerman and Neimeyer forced an errant throw which was intercepted by Anderson.

The Eagles answered quickly on first down with a 70-yard touchdown run by Neimeyer, led by key blocks by Riley Greene and Ivatts. Anderson score the PAT with a QB keeper to put the Eagles up 13-0.

On the Bears' next offensive possession, Tom Marvelli and Neimeyer penetrated the Bears' offensive line stopping the Bears' running back in the backfield. Solid team defense on the next play held the Bears to no gain. On third and long, pressure by Nolan Gaus forced a quick pass, that was defended by Ethan Hines, forcing a punt.

Fisher took the punt 20 yards to the Bears 40 yard line. A 20-yard run by Ivatts with key blocks by Hughes, Bianco, and Fisher set up the Eagles' next score, a 10-yard touchdown pass from Anderson to Greene. Barrington missed the extra point but held a 19-0 lead.

The Bears opened the half in a four-wide receiver set and were determined to score. Two quick runs took the Bears to the Eagles' 30 yard line. However, the defensive line, led by Michael Kilpatrick, Owen Lawson, and Nolan Gaus, put tremendous pressure on the run game to stall the drive. Medeiros made a key tackle on third and long and the defense stepped up again on fourth down, forcing the Bears to turn the ball over on downs.

The Eagles took possession on their own 38 yard line. After a few short gains and incompletions put the Eagles offense at third and 18 from the 50, Anderson connected with Niemeyer for a 50-yard touchdown pass. The PAT scored on a dive by Ivatts put the Eagles up 26-0

New Bedford took possession but a fumble recovered Zimmerman ended the game.

Barrington plays their final game of the season at Dartmouth on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m.

Junior Pee Wees

The Barrington Junior Pee Wees improved to 4-3 after defeating New Bedford 26-0 on Saturday.

The Bears opened with the ball and put together an impressive drive. New Bedford marched down the field, but eventually Barrington's defense stiffened. Chucky Potter, AJ DiOrio, Finn White, Charly Potter, Owen Willard, Kurt Donecker, Lyam Renaud and Shea Parish helped bring down New Bedford ball carriers.

New Bedford punted and Chucky Potter caught the ball clean, darted to his right and sprinted through the Bears' players. Potters ran 80 yards for the touchdown and gave Barrington a 6-0 lead.

The defense held again on the Bears' second drive, and Barrington took over possession. A few plays later, Chucky Potter pushed into the end zone from two yards out to give Barrington a 12-0 lead. Potter added his third touchdown right before halftime, and DiOrio bulled into the end zone for the extra point, giving Barrington a 19-0 lead.

The Eagles continued to play well in the second half. On defense, Henry Alfonso, Jeff Caggiano, Luke Deschenes, Ryan Wilmarth and Nate Gravelle played well on the line. On offense, Nate Reid and Jacob Raposa each hauled in passes, and Kevin Robinson barreled into the end zone for an extra point after DiOrio broke off a long touchdown run.

Barrington will play at Dartmouth on Sunday at noon.
