PORTSMOUTH — Hathaway School Principal Lisa Little had some extra help on her administrative team Friday in the form of two young sisters: Sophia and Gianna Sebolt — ages 10 and 7, respectively.

Sophia, a fourth-grader, and Gianna, a first-grader, were named “principals for the day” at the elementary school. 

Their sudden promotions from students to administrators were cemented on March 24, when their mom won an auction at the Springabaloo 2018 fund-raiser at the Glen Manor House.

The two girls had a busy schedule on Friday. After morning announcements — which included a little music and dancing with Ms. Little — they handed out awards to those students who were named this month’s “Terrific Kids” and “Golden Apple” winners.

Children are selected to be a Kiwanis Club “Terrific Kid” by being “thoughtful, enthusiastic, respectful, responsible, influential, friendly, impeccable and caring.”

The “Golden Apple” award is used for positive reinforcement and is given to students who exceed expectations, Ms. Little said.

The Sebolt sisters also helped out during lunch, viewed a performance of “Goldilocks” with other students, and even joined Ms. Little for some classroom walk-throughs and a payroll meeting.
