KMS to stage ‘Shrek the Musical Jr.’

Shows are scheduled for Friday through Sunday this week

A giant ogre, a faithful donkey, a beautiful princess and an assortment of well-known fairy tale characters will sing and dance their way across the Kickemuit Middle School stage this weekend.

The KMS Masquers will present “Shrek The Musical Jr.” on Friday and Saturday, March 31 and April 1, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 2, at 3 p.m. in the Kickemuit Middle School auditorium, 525 Child St., Warren.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children and seniors, and may be purchased at the door. Children under 6 are free.

The family-friendly musical comedy follows the adventures of an ogre named Shrek. One day, his peaceful home is disturbed by new tenants. The fairytale misfits, including Pinocchio, the Ugly Duckling, the Wicked Witch, Peter Pan, the Three Pigs, the Three Bears, and the Big Bad Wolf, have been banished there by the villainous Lord Farquaad, who is creating a perfect kingdom of conformity in the town of Duloc. In order to gain back his land, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad to rescue the feisty princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a fierce dragon. Setting off with his faithful companion, Donkey, Shrek begins the journey of a lifetime.
