LaSalle goalkeeper Sydney Boulanger and the Rams defense shut out Michaela Goglia and the Lady Huskies offense during the Division I semifinals at Johnston High School on Thursday night. The Rams beat the Huskies 5-0, scoring their first goal by penalty kick when Huskies senior defender Taylor DeMello pushed down Rams forward Chiara DiPalma as she attempted to dribble by her in the box. The referee promptly awarded DiPalma a free kick that she booted by Sophomore goalkeeper Thea Brum into the right corner of the net. LaSalle added to their lead when Milan Bornstein scored and the Rams held a 2-0 lead at the half.

Meanwhile Goglia, Olivia Medeiros and the rest of the Huskies offense fought hard against the bigger and stronger Rams defense and mustered several shots that were turned away by the Rams goalkeeper. With the score 1-0, Boulanger came up big as Michaela Goglia came in on a breakaway down the left side. Goglia beat a Rams defender and came in alone, but the aggressive Boulanger attacked and dove at the ball before Goglia could get off a shot, forcing Goglia to jump over her as the keeper pounced on the ball.

Medeiros also had run ins with the fearless goalkeeper. In the second half Medeiros collected a pass in the middle and wheeled around to take a shot, but the brash Boulanger flew out of the net and blocked the shot. Boulanger had seven saves in the game.

The Rams scored three more in the second with goals by Zoie Allen, Olivia Freitas and Soleil Galagarza.

LaSalle will face Portsmouth in the D-I Championship at RIC on Sunday afternoon.
