Leona L. (Lavigne) Helger, 81, Tiverton

Leona L. (Lavigne) Helger, 81, of Tiverton, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at St. Anne’s Hospital. She was the wife of Alvin E. Helger of Tiverton.

Mrs. Helger was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Leo and Lydia (Laroque) Lavigne and had been a long-time resident of Tiverton. Prior to her retirement she worked as a seamstress.

Mrs. Helger was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church in Tiverton. She enjoyed bowling and gardening but most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.

Survivors, along with her husband, include her three sons, Gary M. Helger, Bruce A. Helger and his wife Kathy, and Brian E. Helger (Jeanne), all of Tiverton; her brother, Rene Lavigne and his wife Esther of Fall River; her sister, Annette Lavigne of Fall River; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Nathan, Jason, Christina, Allison, Liza, Cory and Sammy; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Raymond Lavigne and Dorothy Giacomo.

Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, June 25, at 12 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery, Tiverton.

Calling hours will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, on Saturday prior to the service.
