Les Hubbard, 49, of Warren

Les Hubbard, 49, of Warren, Rhode Island, passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2018. Les was born on Aug. 19, 1968, in Lynn, Massachusetts, to Joanne and Leslie Hubbard. Besides his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Lori (Macedo) of 21 years.

Les leaves two children, Jordan, 19, and Dylan, 17. In addition to his children, he leaves five sisters, Dorene King, Kathryn Howarth, Karen Fryzel, Sharon Senechal and husband Michael, and JoAnn Goulart and husband Jeffrey. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Les graduated from Bristol High School. He completed ROTC Training. He also graduated from URI. He loved working for his family’s sandwich shop, Riccotti’s, in Bristol. He went on to work for the WIC Program for many years.

His true passion was music. As an accomplished musician, he composed and recorded many original albums. As a self-taught musician, he mastered the drums, piano, bass, guitar, and harmonica. He performed for family and fans who would enjoy seeing him play.

He was proud to perform for the Bristol Fourth of July concert series. He was a member of many local bands over the years.

Les  was an avid reader, a Facebook enthusiast and enjoyed traveling with his family. He was kind, artistic, creative, intelligent and had a wonderful sense of humor.

His funeral service will be held Saturday, March 17, at 10 a.m. in the SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
