Letter: A Bristol dog park would enhance our community

Posted

I am writing in response to the letter entitled “Dogs should not be running wild, defecating on graves.” The level of disrespect cannot and should not, be ignored, but this brings up the point, why is Bristol not willing to have a designated dog park?

There have been a number of petitions passed around over the course of the past few years to campaign for a Bristol dog park, with no movement. I do not think I am the only one in town that notices the large number of residents who have dogs as a part their families. Some dogs need to get a good run without a leash, and we all have seen people sneak their dogs into baseball fields or tennis courts.

As I walk my dog all over Bristol, I see plots of land that would be ideal for a dog park. I truly believe a park for our dogs would be highly utilized and can only enhance the sense of community a town like ours brings to its residents.
