To the editor:
On behalf of Amicable Church, I would like to thank all of the area residents, non-profit groups and businesses that volunteered and donated to Amicable's Thanksgiving Basket Program.
There was an amazing response from the local community in providing all the components of a Thanksgiving meal, along with grocery and personal care items for local families. With everyone's support, we were able to serve well over 700 people (approximately 160 families) in need of assistance.
Volunteers worked together to collect donations, sort items and distribute the gifts, so families could enjoy the holiday in its true spirit.
It was heart-warming to see waves of volunteers bagging up fresh, local produce, packing up groceries in an assembly line, and young and old alike assisting families in gathering up their packages, toting them to their vehicles and cheerfully enjoying one another's company while sharing holiday greetings. Thank you to everyone who shared their blessings this Thanksgiving!
