Letter: Barrington needs fiscally conservative citizens to step up

To the editor:

The Barrington Republican Town Committee held a very successful, first ever, chowder social this month. The event was attended by affiliated members as well as many unaffiliated voters — it was great to see so many new faces!

The event allowed residents to come check out what the BRTC is all about. The mission of the BRTC is to promote excellence in government by recruiting and supporting quality candidates for election, to educate the public on timely issues and to provide a forum for exchange of ideas and information affecting our community.

One of our goals is to engage more community members in order to grow our committee, fill board positions and recruit candidates to run for office.

There will be many economic challenges ahead for Barrington. In order to continue providing an exceptional education for students and provide the great services community members deserve, Barrington needs fiscally conservative citizens to participate in government.

I hope you will join us at our next meeting Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. in the senior center. We encourage Republicans and welcome unaffiliated voters to join our meetings!

Lisa Daft

Ms. Daft is co-vice chair of the Barrington Republican Town Committee.
