To the editor:

Over 1,100 runners and walkers entered the 15th and final road race, ‘“Finish for a Guinness 5K” last Sunday, Sept. 3. Women, men, boys, girls, grandmothers pulling carriages, all flooded the south Warren streets.
The race raised money for cure of ALS. Many local people who died from Lou Gehrig’s disease were listed on the Honor Roll at the site of the finish line.

Warren has hosted races in the past. In the 1960s, a small run was sponsored by the Warren Business Association. Fifty male runners, most from Boston running clubs, participated. In the 1980s, there were a series of drug prevention sponsored races from KMS around the Kickemuit Reservoir.

Congratulations to the committee members, and to organizers Ami Kee and Tara Thibaudeau, for bringing awareness to ALS.

PS - I walked and talked the distance, and finished under one hour.
