Letter: Desjardins brings the experience our schools need

To the editor:

It is my privilege to write a letter in support of Margot DesJardins for Westport School Committee in the April 12 election. As former superintendent of Westport Community Schools, Margot is qualified in every possible way to help lead our schools into the future.

As a parent, I have seen the challenges first-hand that our schools have faced over the past few years. The closing of Westport Middle School, space and budgetary issues are just a few problems that our schools have faced. The school committee needs to develop a plan for the schools and entrust the daily operations of the schools to the superintendent.

Margot DesJardins has been an integral part of education in Westport at all levels. She has been a teacher, curriculum coordinator and superintendent in Westport Community Schools. As superintendent, Margot is well versed in constructing budgets and the impacts of those budgets on all of our students. She has an incredible work ethic that she applies to everything she does. Margot will know the right questions to ask and, more importantly, do her homework before making decisions.

Margot DesJardins’ wealth of knowledge and professionalism will make her a welcome addition to the Westport School Committee. Our town and students deserve a dedicated school committee member of her caliber. Please join me in voting on April 12 for Margot DesJardins.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
