To the editor:

I a writing to congratulate the "loud" Barrington students, teachers, coaches, and parents who went to the school committee meeting to voice their opposition to the proposed later school start times.

This is not a time to sit quietly while yet another governmental body tells us what is best for us.

I do not need a scientific study to see that this change makes no common sense. Common sense tells me that if a teenager is told they have to arrive to school an hour later, they will stay up an hour later. I'm not positive, but it is my understanding that CPT days are the most tardy days of the month at the high school.

Perhaps we should focus on teaching our children time management, and consequences of choices. I consider the argument of what happens when they have to enter the real world, and have to arrive to a job, appointment, or a class at an early hour.

Being that this is an election year, we should put it on the ballot, and let the people decide. The cost of such changes should also be considered seriously, our taxes are already high, and keep going up. That can be a hardship on some of our fellow citizens.
