Letter: Enough is enough with this Tiverton Town Council

To the editor:

The TTA members of the new town council have an agenda that is not in the best interest of taxpayers. They have lied to the voters on multiple occasions. They are not going to keep your taxes down or lower the budget — in fact just the opposite is about to take place ass they manipulate things to gain full and total control of the town.

They have consistently ignored the will of the people as we watched them hire their friend as a town solicitor who has no municipal law experience, and did so without advertising or even presenting his resume to any of the other five councilors. They then hired another friend, the most unsuitable person, to help run the

library, a man who has publicly stated he has no use for or like of the library as well as no experience running one .

In both cases, over the objections of over 100 taxpayers in the room, they put their buddies in positions they are clearly not qualified for.

They have started filling out the budget in building committees, among others, with their cronies in their most recent and horrendous action. They tend to implement new council rules that prevent any open comment or speech by the public when there is executive session on the agenda, which is 99 percent of the meetings.

They also want to reserve the right to deny you the opportunity to speak even if you filed a request to be on the agenda, basically, preventing anyone from speaking out against them. This is a clear and flagrant violation of the First Amendment. In the very first paragraph, you have the right to verbally petition the government for redress of grievances. Attempting to deny citizens in the town of Tiverton of their First Amendment right is the last straw.

These people must go for the good of the town. As of April 8, I will be at town hall by 6:30 every Monday with a recall petition for each one of the councilors that must go. Those who can sign and/or help collect signatures to save our town from a socialist style takeover by people who have shown they do not care about honesty or integrity or the will of the people, nor are they keeping the promises they made to be voted in — lower taxes and a smaller budget.
