Letter: Flyer could help residents navigate recycling rules

Posted

To the editor:

Thank you for calling attention to the problem of poor recycling practices in the article "Town tightens recycling rules." I appreciate that Mega Disposal will no longer accept recycling that does not meet state guidelines.

However, those who have their recycling rejected may simply wonder why Mega forgot to pick up their blue bin. The DPW should send a high-quality flyer to all residents explaining the new policy and outlining clear instructions about the criteria for acceptable recyclables. Residents could keep the instructions in a handy location so that they can recycle more effectively.

We can't reasonably expect Barrington residents to navigate the RIRRC.org website every time they are unsure about the guidelines.

Thank you and kind regards,

Andra Shea
