Letter: For sake of your community, vote yes for new Westport school

To the editor:

My husband and I spent many years involved in the Boy Scouts of Troop 100 as parents of three Eagle Scouts and as leaders. As we seek a yes vote for a new school, I especially remember the Citizenship in the Community merit badge, the Personal Finance badge and the Education badge.

Here is one requirement of the Citizen badge:

“Discuss the rights, duties, and obligations of citizenship, and explain how you can demonstrate good citizenship in your community, Scouting unit, place of worship, or school.”

We taught them that they are the town of Westport and because of that they need to support the town. We also taught them the value of a top notch education and the value of a financial investment. And we taught them to research and present the facts.

I ask the Westport citizens to realize that the high school building is in fact broken and replacing it with the help from the MSBA is the intelligent logical choice. (Just like if someone was willing to give you some money to help you replace your clunker as stated by the letter from Jeff Bull).

Go to the polls and exercise your duty as a Westport citizen and say yes. It’s the right thing to do.
