Letter: In this environment, Bristol needs investment like this

Bristol House of Pizza has been a local mainstay for 40 years, proudly serving Bristol residents and visitors to our area. There has been a lot of buzz about the Belvedere at Thames project, and when customers ask me for my opinion about another restaurant, specifically one that serves pizza, I tell them that I am in total support.

I do not see this as competition. I see it as another dining option to draw people downtown. While we are lucky to have a loyal customer base, I can tell you that other merchants are struggling. The retail industry is down 18 to 20 percent across the board. Business is not what it used to be.

Bristol should not sit back and let this opportunity pass by. It’s time we be more open-minded and bring our town back to life.
