Letter: Kudos to Barrington town planner, planning board

Posted

To the editor: As the current and former town council liaisons to the Barrington Planning Board, we are happy to report that the Rhode Island chapter of the American Planning Association has awarded Barrington the 2015 RIAPA Award for Outstanding Comprehensive Plan.

Congratulations to (town planner) Phil Hervey and to all the volunteer members of the Barrington Planning Board for this great accomplishment. This is a fine example of how the people of our town give so much of their time and their extraordinary talent in service to Barrington, and how we are fortunate to have the best planner in the state.

We are grateful for all their hard work and grateful for the excellent plan that represents the fruits of their labor, and for the recognition this award provides. The comprehensive plan is a wonderful example for those outside of town, but more importantly it provides guiding principles to our decision makers as we move forward.

The plan they crafted will ensure that Barrington continues to be a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Thank you all.
