To the editor:

I read with concern but no surprise the article last week about the toxic makeup set from Claire’s. 

There is almost no regulation on ingredients used in makeup within the cosmetics industry, whether it be play makeup sets targeted towards children or makeup for teen girls or adults. 

What's even more concerning is that so many young girls and teens wear full faces of makeup every day, meaning that they are constantly being exposed, long-term, to questionable chemicals that are harmful to their developing endocrine systems. 

Many parents are completely unaware of the toxic chemicals in these products, or aren’t aware of safer options that are available.

I have made it my mission to educate as many women as possible on what harmful chemicals or “chemicals of concern” to avoid in their makeup, and how to find safer options. I offer an online resource as well as individual advice for anyone looking for guidance and help.
